In June 2007, Dr Herzog was interviewed regarding a new type of cochlear implant. The hybrid cochlear implant is an investigational device which blends a hearing aid with a modified cochlear implant.
This procedure is intended for individuals who still have some serviceable hearing, but have decreasing benefit from hearing aids. The Center for Hearing and Balance Disorders in St Louis, MO, is one of a limited number of centers nationally who are participating in the study.
