In April 2008, Dr Herzog is interviewed on a St Louis
local news channel about hearing loss in older adults. Hearing loss many times
is mistaken for Alzheimers or early dementia. Dr Herzog talks about cochlear
implants being an option for older adults where hearing aids have failed. His
studies have shown implanting older adults are just as successful as implanting
young adults. Cochlear implants can assist older adults in leading independent
lives by improving hearing and word understanding.
